A vision of Cornelius Van Horne of the Canadian Pacific Railway, these
architectural treasures were developed as part of a plan to increase use
of the newly-built railway by providing luxurious hospitality in the
wilderness.
Over a hundred years later their unique locations still evoke a sense

and awe at the incredible diversity of life, landscapes, and
eco-regions. A
legacy from the past and still a source of inspiration today, the Banff
Springs
Hotel opened in 1888 at the convergence of the Bow and Spray rivers,
now a
part of the Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City is one of the architectural wonders
developed by the
Canadian Pacific Railway. Overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage Site of
old Quebec City,

is located on the site of the former administrative and religious seat
of the Upper Town,

designs on fields of green are a symbol of the Viking presence beneath
